Foi pesquisador visitante na Universidade de Baltimore, USA (2003), na Universidade de Montpellier, Fran\u00e7a (2015) e no\u00a0<i>Institute of Advanced Legal Studies<\/i>, na Universidade de London, UK (2015). \u00c9 defensor p\u00fablico do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Foi reitor da faculdade de direito da Universidade Cat\u00f3lica de Petr\u00f3polis (1999-2002), onde tamb\u00e9m foi coordenador do programa de mestrado em Direitos Humanos, Direito Processual e Acesso \u00e0 Justi\u00e7a.
