Patrícia Carlos Magno

Patrícia Carlos Magno is a Public Defender of the State of Rio de Janeiro since 2001, currently, she is member of the Penitentiary System group. She is a researcher attached to the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (LADIH/UFRJ) and the Critical Theory of Human Rights Research Group (CNPq). She is a founding member of the Fórum Justiça and ColetivA Mulheres Defensoras Públicas. Master in Law at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, and is a Ph.D. in Human Rights at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro with a doctoral internship at the Center for Social Studies at the Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal. Was awarded Honorable Mention in the XIV CONADEP – National Congress of Public Defenders-  thesis contest (2019), with the thesis “In search of the emancipatory institutional potential of the Public Defender: reflections and propositions on the Challenge of building institutional markers for increasing the three-dimensionality of access to justice”, which was adapted to an article for this collective work.

Ana Míria dos Santos Carvalho Carinhanha

Ana Míria dos Santos Carvalho Carinhanha is a mediator, artist, lawyer, and doctoral student in Law at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and in Social and Legal Sciences in the Graduate Program in Sociology and Law at the Universidade Federal Fluminense. She is also a researcher with the Research Group in Criminology (GPCRIM-UEFS/UNEB), the Research Group on Sexuality, Law and Democracy (SDD-UFF), and the research group Anastácia Bantu (UFF). She holds a Master of Criminology from the Faculty of Law and Criminology at the Université Catholique de Louvain (2014). She has graduated in Law from the Universidade do Estado da Bahia (2011) and in Arts, with an emphasis on Politics and Management of Culture, from the Universidade Federal da Bahia (2011). She is a member of Black Initiative for a New Drug Policy (INNPD).
